So Sunday afternoon I went to see Risen at the theater in Calexico with my very good friend Alyssa and in the end around 25 others and we had a really good time at the movies!

So What’s It All About?

This film is a telling of the life of Jesus Christ the Messiah (Cliff Curtis)from his Crucifixion through His resurrection, and his meeting with the disciples in Galilee as promised through to His Ascension into Heaven. However it is told from the perspective of a non believer in the form of Roman Tribune Calvius (Joseph Finnes) and and his aide Lucius (Tom Felton). These soldiers are charged by by Pilate (Peter Firth) to find out what happened to Jesus body or find a suitable replacement to put a stop to a potential uprising- in the face of the Emperor arriving from Rome.

Freedom to Sin…or From Sin?

Hey Folks!

We’ve talked about the Original nature of things before the fall from Grace. We’ve also talked about how Sin despite our own efforts is not something we can overcome by ourselves and that even if we accept we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior we will still sin. We will never be sinless until we go to be with Christ.

Today I want to address a accusation that can arise from different religious groups when you might be sharing how through Salvation in Jesus He has given you freedom from the Law.

These people might say: “So I suppose that means that you can murder, and steal and lie and whatever else!”

Since we’ll be looking at Epistles of Paul in this post I’ll let him answer that from Romans 6:1-2:

What should we say then? Should we continue in sin so that grace may multiply? Absolutely not! How can we who died to sin still live in it?

We’ll return to that later but first some words about Paul.

Now Paul before his conversion was a zealous Jewish man who followed the law and was therefore defending his Traditions and Jewish faith. He went out everywhere and persecuted members of The Way, the 1st century church, trying to tear it apart and down because it was offensive to him. He was heading to Damascus to take on the Christians there when He was radically transformed and saved by Jesus Christ.

Weeding. Fun Isn’t it?

Hello folks.

Last time we talked about the original state of things, and the fall caused by humankind’s choice to go there own way. By choice we didn’t look into things deeply simply because I wanted to explain why sin arrived and has propagated. We will look into it more deeply from other areas of scripture, because it’s important to build the foundation that we are all sinners.

Only when a person realizes how sinful sin is, how desperately God loves them and that He has provided a way for them to come out from under the power of and slavery to sin, will they with eagerness seek out that solution.

Weeds

Today though we’re returning to Genesis and we’re going to look at one of the byproducts of Adam and Eve’s fall from grace: Weeds.

Free Will

From Order to Disorder

When bad things happen to people does that mean that God doesn’t care? I’ve heard variations on this question over and over again and it’s a really good one. Perhaps you’ve heard it stated in this way, “If God then why evil?” Or perhaps, “If God is all powerful why doesn’t he just wipe out evil?” Or, “Why do bad things happen to good people?” These are all very valid questions asked by people who are genuinely seeking answers, I am going to attempt to answer those questions in a general manner in this post. I’m going to have to ask you wait patiently because people fail to realize that this question is like unleashing a question avalanche.

Which means it’s a perfect way to begin our Cross Walk together.
